This Inform presents an overview of the EMN Study on “Challenges and practices for establishing the identity of third-country nationals in migration procedures”. 

Het Belgisch contactpunt van het Europees Migratienetwerk (EMN) heeft een rapport gepubliceerd over de praktijken en uitdagingen voor het vaststellen van identiteit in de verschillende migratieprocedures. Het rapport was de Belgische contributie voor een vergelijkend EU syntheserapport over het onderwerp die het beleid, regelgeving en praktijk in 25 lidstaten en Noorwegen beschrijft. 

Deze EMN studie onderzoekt tendensen in verzoeken om internationale bescherming en in irreguliere migratiestromen van derdelanders doorheen de EU en Noorwegen. De focus ligt op de periode 2012-2016. Het gaat om een update van de beknopte studie die werd gepubliceerd in december 2015.

This report reviews data relating to migrants' access to information on their rights in 19 reception and detention facilities of 8 EU Member States, including Belgium. It includes recommendations on how to make information provision effective.

This report points to the need for reform in the European asylum system. There is a need for a more balanced distribution of asylum seekers between the Member States and more uniform decision-making on asylum within the EU. The authors argue that a person seeking asylum should have the same chance of being granted asylum irrespective of the country in which the application is made. 

This publication is based on social media research conducted by a small UNHCR team. Between March and December 2016, they issued weekly monitoring reports which have now been compiled into this synopsis.

24 Lidstaten gaven informatie over hun beleid en praktijken aangaande het concept ‘veilige landen van herkomst’ inzake procedures voor internationale bescherming. De query werd gelanceerd door de EMN contactpunten van Nederland en Estland.

We weten verrassend weinig over hoe NGO's en advocaten onderzoek doen in het kader van asielaanvragen. Om deze kloof te dichten, heeft Asylos 20 advocaten en medewerkers van ngo's in België, Frankrijk, Duitsland, Griekenland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk geïnterviewd om de uitdagingen van het onderzoek naar bewijs, evenals de mogelijkheden voor het verbeteren van het onderzoeksproces te begrijpen.

Zestien Lidstaten gaven informatie over hun beleid en praktijk aangaande de implementatie en uitvoering van EU richtlijnen i.v.m. openbare orde en openbare veiligheid. De query werd in december 2016 gelanceerd door het Nederlandse EMN Contactpunt.

In 2016 is het aantal asielaanvragen in België meer dan gehalveerd ten opzichte van 2015. Maar het aantal beslissingen dat door het Commissariaat-generaal voor de Vluchtelingen en de Staatlozen (CGVS) werd genomen, was nog nooit zo hoog.

This report presents an overview of the shifting of economic activity to developing countries and examines whether this shift has led to an increase in international migration towards developing countries.

In this paper, UNHCR sets out a vision for achieving a pragmatic and common approach to responding to refugees and migrants. The proposals can facilitate the development, over the long term, of EU-wide arrangements to address and respond to movements effectively.

Achttien (lid)staten leverden informatie aan over hun beleid en praktijk in verband met de identificatie van eventuele jihadisten in de asielprocedure, en over recrutering in opvangcentra. De query werd in juni 2016 gelanceerd door het Nederlandse EMN Contactpunt.

Er zijn 18 reacties op deze ad hoc vraag ontvangen. De verzamelde informatie helpt om beter te begrijpen hoe de financiering voor hervestiging van vluchtelingen over de verschillende onderdelen van de programma's wordt verdeeld.

20 (lid)staten verstrekten informatie over hun hervestigingsprogramma's. Deze vraag werd gelanceerd door het Britse Nationaal Contactpunt.

This study, published by the "Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek- en Documentatiecentrum" (Dutch Ministry for Security and Justice), focuses on asylum recognition rates in the EU/EFTA area.

What exchange of information on the application of exclusion 1F takes place currently ? Is it desirable and feasible to enhance international information exchange in this matter? This study answers these questions.

This report examines private sponsorship programmes to permit private individuals, groups, corporations and other entities to sponsor individual refugees for resettlement and accept financial responsibility for them for a period of time.

21 (lid)staten hebben geantwoord op de rondvraag van het Sloveense EMN contactpunt aangaande de status die wordt toegekend aan begunstigden van hervestiging. Ook werden er vragen gesteld over de praktische modaliteiten om deze status te bekomen en het integratietraject.

Het syntheserapport stelt de voornaamste bevindingen voor van de studie die in elke lidstaat werd uitgevoerd: "Policies, practices and data on unaccompanied minors (UAMs)". In dit rapport werden de bevindingen van 2008-2009 geüpdated.
