Welke problemen ondervinden migranten bij de toegang tot mentale gezondheidszorg, en hoe pakken de lidstaten die aan? Deze inform brengt het beleid om legaal verblijvende migranten te helpen toegang te krijgen tot de geestelijke gezondheidszorg in kaart. 

In 2003 nam de Raad Richtlijn 2003/109/EG inzake langdurig ingezetenen aan om de integratie van derdelanders die legaal in de EU verblijven te bevorderen. Veertien jaar na de inwerkingtreding voerde EMN Luxemburg een studie uit over de implementatie van deze richtlijn in 23 EU-lidstaten, waaronder België.

In de Europese Unie zijn naar schatting 400.000 mensen erkend staatloos of hebben geen vastgestelde nationaliteit (UNHCR, 2018). In 2017 waren er niet minder dan 2.100 staatloze kinderen in Europa geregistreerd. Dit is een verviervoudiging t.o.v. 2010. Hoe stellen EU-lidstaten staatloosheid vast? A new report published by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung shows how attitudes across Europe have changed before and after the 2015 migration ‘crisis’ and tries to explain what has driven those changes. Using data from the European Social Survey, the report’s authors find that, overall, perceptions of migration have remained both neutral and stable before and after the ‘crisis’. But there are a few countries that have become significantly more positive about migrants, as well as a few that have become significantly more negative.

Previous OECD and EU work has shown that even native-born children with immigrant parents face persistent disadvantage in the education system, the school-to-work transition, and the labour market. To which degree are these linked with their immigration background, i.e. with the issues faced by their parents? This publication provides new insights on the complex issue of the intergenerational transmission of disadvantage for native-born children of immigrants.
