OECD-EC-EMN Conference: A New European Agenda on Migration?

On May 27, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, European Commission and European Migration Network organise the International Conference “A New European Agenda on Migration?”. During this event, experts will share their views on the achievements, challenges and perspectives of integration and migration policies in Europe.

Taking place the day after the elections to the European Parliament, the conference will outline some of the recent achievements and current challenges faced in Europe regarding migration and integration, at the national and EU levels, and collect perspectives for new approaches and policies in the coming years.

The conference will, inter alia, aim to:

  • raise awareness among key stakeholders of the most recent developments in migration policy at national, European and international level;
  • stimulate discussion and debate topics, including legal migration in the global competition for talent and challenges linked to forced migration, return and sustainable reintegration;
  • take stock of the implementation of the European Agenda on Migration, at the time of the European Commission’s latest progress report;
  • provide an outlook on future challenges for newly elected Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).

On the occasion of the event, the 2018 edition of the EMN Annual Report on Migration and Asylum will be published.

The conference will bring together policy makers, practitioners, academia, representatives from EU and international institutions as well as from non-EU countries and civil society organisations to provide a forum for a constructive exchange.
