De nieuwe Staatssecretaris voor Asiel en Migratie, Sammy Mahdi (CD&V) stelde op 18 november 2020 zijn algemene beleidsnota asiel en migratie voor in het Parlement.

On 16 September 2020, the Interior Committee of the Belgian House of Representatives held a parliamentary hearing on a legislative proposal concerning the prohibition of detention of minors. EMN Belgium contributed to the hearing by presenting the laws, policies and practices in other EU Member States.

Omwille van de COVID-19-pandemie werden in maart de persoonlijke gehoren met verzoekers om internationale bescherming bij het CGVS stopgezet. In juni zijn ze heropgestart. Om de veiligheid van personeel en verzoekers te garanderen, is er een video met praktische instructies gemaakt.

 

 

 

 

Recente verrichtte het EMN een studie over "Comparative overview of national protection statuses”. In een korte video worden enkele belangrijke bevindingen van deze studie belicht. 

Vandaag opende EMN België een Twitter account om zijn outputs breder te kunnen verspreiden.

Voluntary returns to the countries of origin are decreasing for the third consecutive year.

Op 10 december 2019 organiseerde EMN België zijn jaarlijkse event over asiel en migratie. Recente nationale en Europese ontwikkelingen inzake internationale bescherming, legale migratie, irreguliere migratie en terugkeer kwamen aan bod.

Het EMN verrichte recent een studie getiteld "Beneficiaries of International Protection Travelling to and Contacting Authorities of their Country of Origin”. In een korte video worden enkele bevindingen van deze studie belicht.

Op 22 oktober 2019 publiceerde de Vereniging van Vlaamse Steden en Gemeenten vzw (VVSG) de resultaten van de enquête die de VVSG afnam in het voorjaar van 2019. Hieruit blijkt dat vooral de zoektocht naar een woning voor erkende vluchtelingen en subsidiair beschermden zeer problematisch is. De regelgeving stelt dat zij het Lokale Opvanginitiatief (LOI) in principe binnen de twee maanden moeten verlaten. Net als in de VVSG-bevraging van 2017 acht de helft van de respondenten die termijn niet haalbaar. Bij bijna 1 op 5 lukt dit zeer uitzonderlijk, en enkel dankzij de mogelijkheid om het verblijf in het LOI tweemaal met telkens 1 maand te verlengen.

On 8 October 2019, Fedasil launched the new information platform www.fedasilinfo.be. The mobile website provides applicants for international protection (asylum seekers) in Belgium with reliable information in 12 languages, 8 of which include an audio version.

On the occasion of the World Refugee Day, which is organized every year on 20th June by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Eurostat published an infographic on annual asylum data for 2018 . Eurostat also published its Asylum quarterly report. In the first quarter of 2019, the number of first-time asylum applicants slightly increased : 4% more compared to the 4th quarter of 2018.

On 24 June 2019 (9:00 - 10:45), EASO will launch its Annual Report on the Situation of Asylum in the EU in Brussels. 

 

Today the English translation of the latest report on Human Trafficking and Smuggling from Myria was published. The 2018 report focuses on underage victims of trafficking and smuggling of human beings.

The Federal Public Service Interior has made a short video about foreign unaccompanied minors seeking international protection in Belgium.

Myria, the Belgian Federal Migration Centre, is recruiting a policy officer to work for the Belgian Contact Point of the European Migration Network (EMN).

The European Commission is presenting its Second Report on the progress made in the fight against trafficking in human beings.

Op 26 oktober 2018 werd de algmeene beleidsnota asiel en migratie van de Staatssecretaris voor Asiel en Migratie gepubliceerd. De beleidsnota brengt een overzicht van de belangrijkste verwezenlijkingen en beleidsprioriteiten op het vlak van asiel en migratie. 

 

 

Europol launched a new report about child trafficking. It provides a comprehensive view on who the victims are and who the criminal networks are that trafficking the children in and into the EU. 

De intergouvernementele conferentie die het Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration  zal aannemen, heeft plaats op 10 en 11 december 2018 in Marrakech, Marokko.
