This Inform presents an overview of the EMN Study on “Challenges and practices for establishing the identity of third-country nationals in migration procedures”. 

Het Belgisch contactpunt van het Europees Migratienetwerk (EMN) heeft een rapport gepubliceerd over de praktijken en uitdagingen voor het vaststellen van identiteit in de verschillende migratieprocedures. Het rapport was de Belgische contributie voor een vergelijkend EU syntheserapport over het onderwerp die het beleid, regelgeving en praktijk in 25 lidstaten en Noorwegen beschrijft.

Over a period of two years, a UNICEF Belgium team collected the testimonies of 170 migrant and refugee children from 36 nationalities in reception centres and schools. The children talk about their experiences in their country of origin and their new environment, the disaster they fled for, the trials they endured on the way, their joy and sorrow.
