In de zaak X/België, bij arrest van 17 november 2022, interpreteerde het Hof van Justitie (hierna: HvJ) de betekenis van artikel 2f), en artikel 10, lid 3, a), van de Gezinsherenigingsrichtlijn. Meer bepaald, oordeelde het HvJ dat een niet-begeleide minderjarige vluchteling die in een lidstaat verblijft, niet ongehuwd hoeft te zijn om recht te hebben op gezinshereniging met eerstegraads verwanten in rechtstreekse opgaande lijn.

A new online job-search tool launched today will help people fleeing Russia's invasion of Ukraine to successfully find a job in the European Union. After registering with the EU Talent Pool pilot initiative, those under temporary protection can upload their CVs, so that their profiles are available to more than 4,000 employers, national public employment services and private employment agencies. Ensuring a swift and effective integration into the labour market is important both for host communities, and for those fleeing the war to rebuild their lives.

Door het harmoniseren van EU-termen op het gebied van asiel en migratie biedt het EMN Glossarium een EU-breed multidisciplinair repertorium van termen en concepten, vertaald in meer dan 20 talen. Het jaar 2020 heeft onvoorziene ontwikkelingen op het gebied van migratie en asiel veroorzaakt. De COVID-19-pandemie had gevolgen voor het aantal migranten, asielzoekers en terugkeerders, en fungeerde ook als katalysator voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe digitale oplossingen op het gebied van asiel- en migratiebeheer. Deze nieuwe uitdagingen komen bovenop de hardnekkige uitdagingen, zoals de noodzaak om de systemen voor migratiebeheer voortdurend te verbeteren en de bescherming van vluchtelingen te waarborgen. Het door het Europees Migratienetwerk (EMN) gepubliceerde jaarverslag over migratie en asiel biedt een overzicht van de belangrijkste ontwikkelingen in de EU-lidstaten en Noorwegen in 2020.
