How can we create flexible housing capacities for asylum applicants and beneficiaries of international protection? This conference will gather national and international experts to discuss challenges, good practices and lessons learnt when it comes to dealing with pressures on the asylum housing system, both in the context of international and temporary protection.

The Conference allowed participants to gain insight into legal provisions against labour exploitation and to examine the role of different actors in upholding the rights of foreign workers. Good practices and lessons learnt from selected countries were presented and discussed.

During the High Level Forum to protection and resettlement cooperation, 16 EU Member States pledged more than 29.000 places for resettlement and humanitarian admission for 2023, including continued and expanded support to Afghans in need of protection.

In de zaak X/België, bij arrest van 17 november 2022, interpreteerde het Hof van Justitie (hierna: HvJ) de betekenis van artikel 2f), en artikel 10, lid 3, a), van de Gezinsherenigingsrichtlijn. Meer bepaald, oordeelde het HvJ dat een niet-begeleide minderjarige vluchteling die in een lidstaat verblijft, niet ongehuwd hoeft te zijn om recht te hebben op gezinshereniging met eerstegraads verwanten in rechtstreekse opgaande lijn.  

Hoe kunnen vrouwelijke migranten   doeltreffender naar integratiediensten en de arbeidsmarkt toegeleid worden? De conferentie, georganiseerd door EMN Finland, focust zich op de uitdagingen en mogelijke oplossingen voor een doeltreffende toeleiding van vrouwelijke migranten naar de arbeidsmarkt.

On 15 and 16 November 2022, EMN Belgium welcomed over 20 enthusiastic young people from a variety of backgrounds at its EMN Migration Youth Event. Over the course of two days, they were submerged in a programme focusing on both the theory and the practice of asylum and migration policy in Belgium and the European Union.

In the Chamber of Representatives today, Nicole de Moor presented the main lines of its policy on asylum and migration. Despite the many current challenges, the State Secretary intends to carry out reforms in this field.

The Commission announced a series of measures to continue supporting those fleeing the unprovoked Russian aggression. A new online job-search tool launched today will help people fleeing Russia's invasion of Ukraine to successfully find a job in the European Union. After registering with the EU Talent Pool pilot initiative, those under temporary protection can upload their CVs, so that their profiles are available to more than 4,000 employers, national public employment services and private employment agencies. Ensuring a swift and effective integration into the labour market is important both for host communities, and for those fleeing the war to rebuild their lives.

This report presents key developments in the area of migration and asylum, and it takes stock of the progress achieved in the New Pact on Migration and Asylum in the past year. It also identifies key challenges ahead and recalls the steps needed for a more robust and fair migration and asylum policy.

Het CGVS heeft zijn jaarverslag 2020 gepubliceerd. Het jaarverslag bevat een compleet overzicht van de asielcijfers van 2020. Verder focust het rapport onder andere op de impact van  COVID-19, op de werking van het CGVS en op de internationale asielcontext. Het jaarverslag is beschikbaar in het Nederlands en Frans in een online versie en in PDF formaat.

The European Migration Network invites you to participate in a survey on one of its key products: the EMN Asylum and Migration Glossary.

The 8th EMN Educational Seminar on Migration will be about “Migration in a Multilateral World” and will take place online from 24 till 26 August 2021. During three intensive days, the Seminar will focus on how migration and multilateralism is intertwined and how the international cooperation affects migrants and refugees in transiting or destination countries.

In the second half of 2021 EMN Belgium will continue to provide input for multiple EMN outputs. This way EMN Belgium tries to contribute to an evidence-based migration and asylum policy in Belgium and the EU and Norway.

On 10 June 2021, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) published its fundamental rights report that takes stock of the developments regarding fundamental rights in the EU in 2020. Additionally, FRA also published its opinions on these developments and added a synopsis of the evidence supporting these opinions.

Sinds de eerste publicatie van het Glossarium Asiel en Migratie van het Europees Migratienetwerk (EMN) in 2010, is het een waardevolle bron voor mensen uit de praktijk, beleidsmakers en onderzoekers op het gebied van asiel en migratie. Door het harmoniseren van EU-termen op het gebied van asiel en migratie biedt het EMN Glossarium een EU-breed multidisciplinair repertorium van termen en concepten, vertaald in meer dan 20 talen. De laatste versie van juli 2020 bevat ongeveer 500 termen.

We are celebrating EMN Day! On 11 June we will launch the Annual Report on Migration & Asylum 2020, discussing ways to make migration management systems more effective and efficient. ? 11:00-13:00 CEST  

Het jaar 2020 heeft onvoorziene ontwikkelingen op het gebied van migratie en asiel veroorzaakt. De COVID-19-pandemie had gevolgen voor het aantal migranten, asielzoekers en terugkeerders, en fungeerde ook als katalysator voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe digitale oplossingen op het gebied van asiel- en migratiebeheer. Deze nieuwe uitdagingen komen bovenop de hardnekkige uitdagingen, zoals de noodzaak om de systemen voor migratiebeheer voortdurend te verbeteren en de bescherming van vluchtelingen te waarborgen. Het door het Europees Migratienetwerk (EMN) gepubliceerde jaarverslag over migratie en asiel biedt een overzicht van de belangrijkste ontwikkelingen in de EU-lidstaten en Noorwegen in 2020.

On 2 June 2021, the European Commission presented its new Schengen Strategy, which was accompanied by a proposal to revise the Schengen evaluation and monitoring mechanism.    

Wat is het EMN? Hoe functioneert het? Wie maakt er deel van uit? Hoe kan ik samenwerken met het EMN? De "Getting to know the EMN open day" op 2 juni 2021 wil deelnemers op deze en andere vragen een antwoord bieden. 

Op 15 december organiseerden EMN België en de EMN Return Expert Group een webinar over alternatieven voor detentie voor migranten in irregulier verblijf. Dit online event focuste o.a. op het huidige juridische kader en de identificatie van interessante pilootprojecten.   

Georgië en Moldavië zijn in maart 2021 toegetreden tot het EMN als waarnemer. Het waarnemerschap versterkt de onderlinge samenwerking inzake asiel en migratie.
