The DRC Global Displacement Forecast 2023 Report, projects that the total number of people displaced will increase by 1.9 million in 2023 and an additional 3.5 million in 2024. This means that by 2024, the number of displaced people will have more than doubled since 2015 and increased by more than 50 million.

The first package of reforms contains several measures. Nicole De Moor said in a statement that, according to the texts to be discussed in Parliament, reception places will be allocated to those in an ongoing asylum procedure, cooperation on return will be enshrined in law and abuses in family reunification will be combated. Het Nederlandse Nationale Contactpunt van het Europees Migratienetwerk heeft een ad hoc vraag gelanceerd over data inzake niet-begeleide minderjarigen die zich niet in internationale beschermingsprocedures bevinden in de andere lidstaten. Met deze vraag wil het Nederlandse Contactpunt een beter beeld krijgen van de totale instroom van niet-begeleide minderjarigen in een Europees perspectief.

Vandaag werd EMN België uitgenodigd door de Hogeschool Gent om het leerinstrument " Destination Europe" voor te stellen aan een groep van 45 Bachelor studenten. In de rollenspelen werden ze betrokken bij levensechte scenario's van besluitvorming rond migratie en integratie.

Op 23 en 24 februari 2023 ging in Athene de tweede Europese conferentie inzake grensbeheer door. De deelnemende lidstaten onderstreepten onder meer het belang van een doeltreffende controle van de buitengrenzen van de EU en eisten wettelijke, financiële, operationele en technische maatregelen, alsmede een aanpak over de gehele lijn om dit te waarborgen.
