Deze EMN inform schetst benaderingen, ervaringen en beste praktijken bij het monitoren, detecteren en aanpakken van het misbruik van verblijfsvergunningen in de EU voor studiedoeleinden.

Het EMN heeft in samenwerking met de OESO een nieuwe inform gepubliceerd: "Skills Mobility Partnerships: Exploring Innovative Approaches to Labour Migration" gepubliceerd. Deze informatie belicht de ervaringen van EU-lidstaten, niet-EU-landen en internationale organisaties met de uitvoering van Skills Mobility partnerschappen, een nieuw concept dat een duurzame benadering van migratie van geschoolde arbeidskrachten bevordert, met als doel vaardigheden op te bouwen ten voordele van zowel de landen van herkomst als de landen van bestemming.

Kunnen digitale diensten het beheer van migratie- en asielprocessen verbeteren? Dit gezamenlijke EMN-OESO-rapport richt zich specifiek op gebieden binnen de asiel-, migratie- en naturalisatieprocedures, evenals op grenscontrolebeheer, waar digitale technologieën kunnen worden ingezet.

How do Member States and Norway ensure the care and protection of children who arrive in their countries, and what measures are in place in relation to guardianship, education, access to justice, and more? This new report from the European Migration Network (EMN) provides an overview of the progress made during 2020 in the implementation of the recommendations laid out in the 2017 Communication on the protection of children in migration and is the second edition of a series of reports developed by the EMN.

This comparative report provides an overview of the use of digital tools and remote working methods in asylum processes in 23 European countries. It questions the risks and benefits of such use and highlights several fundamental guarantees and procedural safeguards which must continue to apply to ensure that they do not infringe the existing CEAS framework.

This final report, realised by the Study and Policy Unit of the Federal Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (Fedasil), describes the reception of vulnerable applicants for international protection with specific needs. It discusses how (field) staff define, identify and respond to vulnerability in practice. The objective is to develop a better understanding of the way in which Fedasil and its reception partners fulfill the requirement of Belgian and European legislation to meet the specific needs of applicants for international protection.

Dit rapport houdt het Belgische beleid op het vlak van terugkeer, detentie en verwijdering van vreemdelingen kritisch tegen het licht en presenteert recente cijfers. Net zoals Myria’s laatste migratieverslag focust het rapport op kwesties die verband houden met het recht op een gezinsleven van personen in detentie. Myria formuleert aanbevelingen om het respect voor de mensenrechten van die personen te verbeteren.

The strategic partnership of the European Council for Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) published “The Way Forward – A reflection paper on the new proposals for EU funds on Asylum, Migration and Integration 2021-2027”. This reflection paper addresses the proposals of most relevance to beneficiaries of the current Asylum Migration & Integration Fund (AMIF) 2014-20, and those that are proposed to be implemented by Member States via ‘shared management’ arrangements (National Programmes). It concentrates mainly on the proposed Asylum & Migration Fund (AMF) and European Social Fund+ (ESF+).

This research, commissioned for the eighteenth plenary meeting of the Transatlantic Council of Migration, an initiative of the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), examines the entanglement of immigration with broader concerns about the economic, social and cultural effects of globalization, as well as the public’s growing lack of confidence in government to manage issues such as immigration.

The European Commission has published the new "Feasibility study on sponsorship schemes as a possible pathway to safe channels for admission to the EU". Finalised in October 2018, its outcomes confirm that private sponsorship schemes can efficiently contribute to meeting the goal of promoting safe and legal channels of admission to the EU of those in need of international protection.

The Commission will therefore consider ways in which Member States could be best supported in establishing such schemes.

Als onafhankelijk Nationaal Rapporteur voor België maakt Myria in zijn rapport Mensenhandel en Mensensmokkel al meer dan twintig jaar elk jaar een onafhankelijke evaluatie van het beleid. Dit jaar wijdt het de focus van zijn verslag aan minderjarige slachtoffers van mensenhandel en mensensmokkel.

Het verslag focust op een bijzonder kwetsbare slachtoffergroep: Nigeriaanse minderjarige meisjes die door mensenhandelaars worden gerekruteerd in hun thuisland om in Europa in de prostitutie uitgebuit te worden.

In deze Myriatics stelt Myria o.a. vast dat er een stijgend aandeel immigraties is uit de nieuwe EU-lidstaten, een proportionele daling van de immigraties uit de landen van de EU-15, een aanzienlijke en recente vermindering van de immigraties van Marokkanen en Turken en, tot slot, een toename van de immigraties uit West-Azië, in het bijzonder uit landen in oorlog.

De influx van asielzoeker tussen 2014 en 2016 heeft de bewustwording vergroot over de verschillen in standaarden van sociale voordelen en maatregelen voor rechten die uitgeoefend worden door begunstigden van internationale bescherming in de EU lidstaten en Noorwegen. De herziening van de Kwalificatierichtlijn (2011/95/EC), de Gezinsherenigingsrichtlijn (2003/86/EC) en andere evoluties hebben de basis gelegd voor een uitgebreid overzicht van de verschillende sociale voordelen en rechten toegekend aan begunstigden van internationale bescherming.
