Op 2 december treedt het Europees Grensbewakingssysteem in werking. EUROSUR zal bijdragen tot het redden van levens, de EU en de Lidstaten betere instrumenten aanreiken om grensoverschrijdende criminaliteit te voorkomen en bijstand verlenen in het opsporen en redden van migrantenbootjes in nood.
Het Europees Ondersteuningsbureau voor Asiel (EASO) heeft haar werkprogramma voor 2014 publiek gemaakt. De nadruk komt te liggen op het ondersteunen van de Lidstaten bij de implementatie van het herziene asielacquis en de verdere ontwikkeling van het "Early Warning and Preparedness System"
