Under the Italian Presidency of the European Union a two days conference on European Migration Policy and Integration is organized in Rome on 17-18 December 2014.

This meeting will discuss the dynamics by which migrants get stuck in low-skilled work, and the role of training and employment services in helping them progress in their occupations.

Since 13 November 2014 and until May 2015, Belgium is chairing the Committee of Ministers, the political decision making organ of the Council of Europe. Under the Belgian Presidency, migration and asylum will be part of the issues tackled.

The IOM Country Office for Belgium and Luxembourg organize an event to illustrate the positive contribution of migrants, in various domains and to highlight some concrete examples of their contributions to the host societies at the international, European, and Belgian levels.

The summit took stock of progress made on Roma inclusion in the EU. It focused on three major themes: making policies inclusive for all Roma at the local level; making EU funding reach the local and regional authorities; making Roma integration a local reality.

De finale internationale conferentie van TRICUD beoogt de belangrijkste bevindingen te presenteren van het multidisciplinaire onderzoeksprogramma TRICUD (2010-2014).

Verschillende experten, waaronder Dirk Jacobs (ULB) en Jasper Dag Tjaden (Migration Policy Group), deelden hun inzichten inzake "Onderwijs en Integratie" vanuit een Belgische en Europese invalshoek.

Dit initiatieprogramma is er op gericht om vluchtelingen en personen in het bezit van de subsidiaire beschermingsstatus te informeren over het leven en werken in België en om computervaardigheden te verwerven.

CRIPEL en CEDEM Ulg organiseren een studiedag die de voornaamste aspecten van de gewijzigde nationaliteitswetgeving bespreken, waaronder integratie, toegang tot sociale zekerheidsrechten en de arbeidsmarkt.

Een persbericht van de nationale bank van België geeft aan dat in 2011 de werkgelegenheidsgraad van personen die buiten de EU geboren zijn in België met 45,8 % de laagste is van alle lidstaten.

In het kader van de integratie van nieuwkomers in Wallonië, zullen er drie projecten nader worden onderzocht, namelijk de desk van CIRE voor nieuwkomers in Ixelles, de regionale integratiecentra in Charleroi en Couleur Cafe in Malmedy.

In het kader van de uitreiking van de Charles Ullens prijs, werd het werk van zes jonge onderzoekers in de verf gezet. Deze prijs Charles Ullens bekroont elk jaar zes laureaten voor doctoraatsproefschriften, eindverhandelingen en artikels over migratie en integratie

Deze conferentie zal het ARCKA project afronden: « Assessing, recognizing competences and certifying knowledge acquisition valuing human capital of children of foreign origin in education and training in Europe » Dit project werd gecofinancieerd door de Europese Unie.

In het zog van de hernieuwde Europese agenda voor de integratie van derdelanders, organiseert Public Policy Exchange een internationaal symposium om kennis te verzamelen over de meest duurzame en succesvolle integratie-strategieën op niveau van verschillende sectoren.

Eurostat publiceert een editie van 'statistics in focus' over gemengde huwelijken (huwelijken met een persoon geboren in het buitenland). Door gegevens uit twee EU-surveys te gebruiken, werd het percentage geschat van het aantal personen in een gemengd huwelijk in 30 landen.
