The Klarafestival 2026 in Brussels brings together audiences, musicians, and participants from diverse backgrounds around the theme “Where is Home?”. The festival combines classical music concerts with additional activities such as conferences and discussions. It also engages in social initiatives, giving young talents a platform and reaching communities that do not usually experience live classical music. In 2026, particular attention is given to refugees, highlighting the importance of having a safe home and a sense of belonging.

From Brussels to Virton and beyond, a wide range of activities are being organised across Belgium in the lead-up to World Refugee Day on 20 June 2025. Cultural events, open days, artistic performances and community gatherings will shine a light on the talents, stories and resilience of people forced to flee.

Het Duitse contactpunt van het Europees Migratienetwerk (EMN) organiseert in samenwerking met de BAMF een conferentie over "Hervestiging, humanitaire admissie en complementaire toegangsmogelijkheden voor de bescherming van vluchtelingen". Actuele nationale en Europese ontwikkelingen en uitdagingen op dit gebied zullen worden besproken met een verscheidenheid aan nationale en internationale gasten.

As more than a year has passed since activating the Temporary Protection Directive, the conference focuses on the experiences of the Member States and host societies regarding the TPD as well as on long-term scenarios and ways forward. 

Op 25 juni 2020 lanceert het Europees Ondersteuningsbureau voor Asielzaken (EASO) zijn jaarlijks rapport 2020. Omwille van de COVID-19 situatie, houdt EASO dit jaar een online event om de bevindingen in het rapport, evenals de asieltendensen in de EU te presenteren en te bespreken. 

Op 10 december 2019 organiseert EMN België zijn jaarlijks policy event over asiel en migratie, waarbij recente nationale en EU ontwikkelingen op het vlak van internationale bescherming, legale migratie en integratie en irreguliere migratie en terugkeer worden besproken.

Op 18 januari organiseert Myria, samen met samen met de Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van België voor Wetenschappen en Kunsten, de Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique en Le Soir, een grote conferentie over migratie. Die vindt plaats in het Paleis der Academiën in Brussel. Een dag lang worden thema’s als internationale bescherming en economische migratie aangesneden aan de hand van academische uiteenzettingen.

This joint seminar organized by the Estonian Contact Point of the EMN, UNHCR and IOM focuses on the current state, challenges and future directions of resettlement in Estonia and elsewhere.

Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen organizes an evening event on the subject of international protection. The programme includes a dance performance, a debate, a movie screening and a concert.

This full day conference addresses current responses to the ongoing refugee crisis, providing an opportunity to highlight best practices and challenges.

On 20 January, the Belgian Association for foreigners’ rights organizes a training on the topic “What protection for seriously ill persons following M’Bodj and Abdida case-law?”.

De cursus zal ingaan op het kader voor internationale bescherming van vluchtelingen vanuit het internationaal recht en Europees perspectief.

Dit internationale symposium zal de uitdagingen waar Europa tengenaan kijkt om de praktische samenwerking tussen lidstaten te verhogen, in het bijzonder op het vlak van meetbare gegevens over asielzoekers.

De opleiding ELENA van ECRE voor gevorderden over de rechten van vluchtelingen zal dit jaar plaatsvinden in Madrid van 30 november tot 2 december. De cursus is gericht op personen die legale bijstand verlenen aan asielzoekers en voor het personeel van asielinstanties.

Dit evenement zal mensen samenbrengen die werken rond hervestiging van vluchtelingen, zowel uit de administratie als van NGO's en beoogt de creatie van een expertisenetwerk.

Het 'Centre for European Policy Studies '(CEPS) organiseert een bijeenkomst 'Op weg naar een meer omvattend gemeenschappelijk Europees asielstelsel: de rol van EASO'. De conferentie wordt gehouden in Brussel op 14 september met dr. Robert Visser, EASO's uitvoerend directeur, als hoofdspreker.
