EMN België en EMN Zweden organiseren, samen met de Swedish Expert Group for Aid Studies (EBA) en de Swedish Migration Studies Delegation (Delmi), het EU-launchseminar van de publicatie "Linking Migration and Development: European Experiences and Policy Lessons for Sweden".

Deze conferentie is gewijd aan het onderzoeken van manieren om ordelijke migratiesystemen op te bouwen door middel van internationale samenwerking en innovatie. Er zal dieper worden ingegaan op effectieve samenwerkingsmodellen, innovatieve oplossingen en het belang van dialoog en uitwisseling tussen de EU, de lidstaten, derde landen en andere belangrijke actoren, zoals internationale organisaties, bij het vormgeven van reguliere migratie.

Tijdens deze conferentie zal worden onderzocht hoe de voordelen van externe samenwerking op het gebied van migratie kunnen worden gemaximaliseerd. Een breed scala aan nationale en internationale deskundigen, waaronder beleidsmakers uit EU- en niet-EU-landen, mensen uit de praktijk en onderzoekers, zal discussiëren over de uitdagingen en onderdelen van effectieve migratiepartnerschappen, waarbij mogelijkheden voor zowel evenwichtige als alomvattende samenwerking en innovatieve benaderingen worden verkend.

During the first half of 2024, pivotal policy and political developments in the area of asylum and migration were put on the agenda, including the voting of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum by the European Parliament, and the European elections. At this critical juncture, there is a need for credible evidence, established expertise and open dialogue on the direction and shape of future policymaking. Within this context, MIGNEX is convening a high-level Policy Conference on EU migration and development policy.

EMN Servië, dat in maart 2023 als waarnemend land toetrad tot het Europees Migratienetwerk, organiseert zijn eerste nationale conferentie. De conferentie richt zich op circulaire migratie en diaspora die terugkeert naar hun land van herkomst.

EMN België, in samenwerking met Enabel, het Belgisch ontwikkelingsagentschap, en de Internationale Organisatie voor Migratie (IOM) België & Luxemburg, heeft het genoegen om u uit te nodigen op de nationale (hybride) conferentie “Skills Mobility Partnerships”, op 1 en 2 juni 2022 in het Résidence Palace en online. 

This conference will provide an opportunity to exchange good practices used in creating and maintaining partner relations between diasporas and their countries of origin acknowledging the important role they have in their countries’ development.

At the height of the refugee “crisis” in October 2015, over 7,000 asylum seekers crossed the Aegean Sea from Turkey to Greece per day. This created problematic conditions for refugees in reception centers and overwhelmed Greece as a first country of entry to the EU. In this setting, the EU-Turkey Statement was concluded with the aim of managing migration across the Aegean Sea and curbing arrivals to the EU. Whilst the Statement was effective in reducing the number of arrivals, it has been met with a series of human rights concerns.

The Belgian government and the city of Mechelen host a global conference on cities and migration in order to identify actionable recommendations on cooperation for migration governance at local and national levels.

Six years after the promotion of a “new approach to a new neighbourhood” following the 2011 uprisings, what is the state of play of EU’s cooperation with the MENA region in the field of migration and asylum? This session will allow to reflect on the EU's external cooperation in the field of migration and asylum with South and East Mediterranean countries.

Possible topics for papers include the effects of migration on poverty, inequality and human capital formation; social networks and migration; diaspora externalities; remittances; brain drain; migration and institutional/technological change.

This year, the EMN Conference aims to support the policymaking process on a number of key areas of irregular migration policy, namely readmission, return, reintegration and cooperation with countries of transit and origin, as well as re-entry bans and (alternatives to) detention.

The 7th Meeting of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) will take place in Stockholm on 14-16 May 2014. The GFMD Civil Society Days are held prior to the meeting, on 12-13 May 2014.

Prof. Luis E. Guarnizo (University of California, Davis) will explore the epistemic and ontological origins and evolution of transnationalism as an analytical perspective in migration studies since its origins in the early 1990s.

The Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) organize the Brussels launch of the IOM World Migration Report 2013, followed by a panel commentary and a Q&A session.

Op 13 maart wordt de vierde lezing gehouden van de IES lessenreeks. Deze lezing legt de focus op de versterkte samenwerking tussen de EU en de landen van herkosmt en transit in het kader van migratiebeheer.

Deze conferentie zal plaatsvinden in het kader van het project: "Bewustmaking van de risico's die verbonden zijn aan irreguliere migratie en ondersteuning bij reïntegratie van migratie in de Democratische Republiek Congo."

ISC Intelligence in Science, samen met Europees Parlementslid Emer Costello MEP, organiseren een seminarie rond de impact van diaspora op de prioriteiten binnen de Europese beleidsvoering.

The workshop aims at sharing ideas on the relevance of mobility partnerships and projects supporting their implementation as well as enhancement of collaboration and funding opportunities.

The conference aims to foster the exchange of practices and experience among present and potential partners and to raise awareness of Mobility Partnerships in their full multidimensionality and reflect on their future.

De workshop wordt in Genève gehouden en is georganiseerd in samenwerking met drie regionale VN commissies die deel uitmaken van het gelijknamige VN project dat sinds 2009 wordt uitgevoerd.
