Fragomen will host a webinar on recent changes to Belgium’s immigration policies. The session will cover two main areas: first, new rules in the Flanders Region concerning economic migration, including labour migration pathways, contractual liability, and labour market testing; and second, nationwide modifications affecting family reunification, such as stricter financial criteria for visa applications. The webinar will also highlight practical implications for businesses employing foreign nationals.

Het evenement brengt deskundigen uit Duitsland en heel Europa samen om de recente ontwikkelingen op het gebied van gezinshereniging te bespreken. De debatten zullen gaan over de spanning tussen het waarborgen van grondrechten en het voldoen aan de eisen van migratiebeheer. De deelnemers zullen onderzoeken hoe deze prioriteiten in de praktijk kunnen worden verzoend door middel van nationale en Europese benaderingen.

Deze conferentie, georganiseerd door EMN Nederland in samenwerking met EMN België, gaat over gezinshereniging van begunstigden van internationale bescherming in EMN lidstaten en waarnemende landen. De invloed van Europese rechtspraak in dit gebied wordt ook in detail behandeld.

Researcher and author Pascal Debruyne will present his book which contains stories of parents and minors who struggle through the family reunification procedure and stories of care providers who try their best to support these families. Panel discussions will also take place with experts in this field.

This full day conference will provide an opportunity to exchange information on family reunification schemes, in Ireland and abroad. Drawing on the findings of a recently published European Migration Network study the family reunification policy frameworks operational elsewhere in the EU will be discussed and compared.

The European Commission has launched a public consultation to collect evidence, experiences, data and opinions to support the evaluation of the existing EU legal framework for the legal entry and stay of nationals of non-EU countries to the EU Member States. The deadline is 18 September 2017.
