Le 10 décembre 2019, le REM Belgique organise son policy event annuel sur l'asile et la migration. Les discussions porteront sur les développements récents au niveau national et de l'UE dans le domaine de la protection internationale, de la migration légale et de l'intégration ainsi que de la migration irrégulière et du retour.

Le 12 décembre 2018, le point de contact belge du REM a organisé son événement annuel concernant la politique en matière d'asile et de migration. Les discussions ont porté sur les développements récents au niveau national et de l'UE dans le domaine de la protection internationale, de la migration légale et de l'intégration ainsi que sur les développements récents en matière de migration clandestine, de traite des êtres humains et de politique de retour.

 

The European Commission is presenting its Second Report on the progress made in the fight against trafficking in human beings.

On 10 September, the Belgian Minister of Security and the Interior and the State Secretary for Asylum Policy and Migration presented a 9-point action plan on the fight against irregular transit migration.

In his State of the Union, President Jean-Claude Juncker presented proposals to ensure full EU solidarity on migration and better protection of Europe's external borders. The Commission is proposing to reinforce the European Border and Coast Guard and the EU's Agency for Asylum and is proposing a targeted review of the Return Directive.

As of 11 August, irregularly staying families with minor children can be detained with a view to removal in family housing on the grounds of the closed detention centre 127bis.

Today, the State Secretary for Asylum Policy and Migration and his Tunisian counterpart signed an agreement which focuses on cooperation regarding migration and return.

Dans le cadre de la présidence bulgare du Conseil, le Point de Contact National bulgare du REM a organisé la conférence annuelle du REM du 31 mai au 1er Juin à Sofia. La conférence était consacrée aux défis et aux facteurs de succès dans la gestion des flux migratoires.

Le 31 mai et le 1er juin 2018, le Point de Contact bulgare du REM (dans le cadre de la présidence bulgare du Conseil) organise la conférence annuelle du REM. La conférence sera dédiée aux sujet suivant: les défis et les facteurs de succès dans la gestion des migrations.

En 2018, le Réseau Européen des Migrations (REM) célèbre son dixième anniversaire. A cette occasion, le REM a organisé une conférence le 15 mai à Bruxelles.

Today, the Belgian Minister of Home Affairs, the Belgian State Secretary for Asylum Policy and Migration met with the British Home Secretary in London to discuss the issue of transit migration.

From 21 until 23 February 2018, the Belgian State Secretary for Asylum Policy and Migration, Theo Francken, visited Guinea in order to discuss the questions of – inter alia - irregular migration and return.

Today, Frontex published its Risk Analysis for 2018, which concentrates on the scope of Frontex operational activities and, in particular, on irregular migration at the external borders of the EU and Schengen Associated Countries.

On the 26th of October 2017 the general policy note on asylum and migration of the State Secretary for Asylum and Migration was published. The policy note provides an overview of the main achievements and priorities in the field of asylum and migration.

Aujourd'hui, le Point de Contact belge du Réseau Européen des Migrations a organisé un évènement à Bruxelles pour explorer la question de l''emploi irrégulier de ressortissants de pays tiers.

In the summer of 2017, more and more transit migrants, who wish to go to the UK, were staying in the Maximilian park in Brussels. The Belgian government did not want this park to become ‘a new Calais’. A number of transit migrants were intercepted and detained. Because a lot of them were presumed Sudanese, a Sudanese delegation was invited to come to Belgium for identification. Left-wing politicians and NGOs stressed that the Sudanese regime’s human rights record is particularly worrying. Campaigns were organised to better inform the transit migrants. On 04.10.2017 these issues were debated in the Belgian Parliament.

The European Commission published a mid-term review of what has been achieved so far in delivering the European Agenda on Migration. It also sets out new initiatives from the Commission to address key areas, and identifies where further efforts are needed in the coming months.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), published data on recent arrivals in Europe.  Compared with the 273,000 migrants who landed from January through Aug. 27, 2016, about 121,000 arrived during the same period this year. Furthermore, there was no evidence of any migrant dying in the Mediterranean since Aug. 9

À la suite du plan d'action de la Commission pour soutenir l'Italie, présenté le 4 juillet, le fonds fiduciaire de l'UE pour l'Afrique a adopté ce jour un programme doté d'une enveloppe de 46 millions d'euros pour renforcer les capacités des autorités libyennes en matière de gestion intégrée des migrations et des frontières.
