Before 21 August 2024, public institutions, private non-profit and international organisations may submit an application to receive funding under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) for a project strengthening the identification, assistance, support, and integration of third-country national victims of trafficking in human beings.

In July 2024, the Odysseus Network for Legal Studies on Migration and Asylum in Europe organises the 24th edition of its yearly summer school. The summer school focuses on the European immigration and asylum policies from a legal perspective, including the latest developments in 2024. A special emphasis is on the adoption of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum.

This online annual conference, organised by the Academy of European Law (ERA), will debate the latest developments and challenges in the EU’s internal and external border management. It will inter alia analyse the latest proposals and reforms on the functioning and operation of EU border management systems, including Schengen, as well as Frontex’ role and responsibilities. 

This conference of the European Migration Network (REM), organized within the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will bring together high-level representatives and a wider audience of experts to discuss the operationalization and the implementation of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum.

This meeting will bring together the Ombudspersons for children as well as children welfare and guardianship authorities of EU Member States and other countries to have an open discussion on the specific aspects of the rights of third-country national unaccompanied minors. 

On 17 June 2024, the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) will publish its Asylum Report 2024 during an online event. This edition highlights measures taken by EU+ countries to manage over 1.1 million asylum applicants in addition to over 4.4 million displaced persons registered for temporary protection.

EMN Slovakia organises its 10th educational seminar to provide professionals working in the state institutions, non-governmental sector and other entities (e.g. research bodies, academia, media) with comprehensive and up-to-date information on migration. During three days, the seminar will foster networking, experience sharing and discussions among (inter)national experts and participants.

The workshop will shed light on the challenges and best practices of the application of the Temporary Protection Directive in Germany, the Netherlands, and Lithuania. The participants will also discuss future scenarios to ensure the continued protection of Ukrainians.

This event will convene key stakeholders to facilitate discussions about current challenges and to provide insights on good practices in governing the accommodation of international protection applicants and supporting access to housing for international protection beneficiaries. 

This multistakeholder meeting, jointly organized by the Council of Europe and the EMN Luxembourg within the framework of the EMN Platform on Statelessness, will allow participants to share good practices and challenges on topics including the age assessment and best interest of the child; the burden of proof in the special case of children and the access to nationality for children.

The Expert Conference, that is jointly hosted by Belgium’s Federal Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (Fedasil), and the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA), in cooperation with the Migration Policy Institute Europe (MPI Europe), aims to explore multi-stakeholder strategies in three specific areas: reception, information provision, and pre-integration.

This webinar will showcase key findings from the new joint EMN-OECD Inform on the "Labour market integration of beneficiaries of temporary protection from Ukraine". These findings will be contextualised by drawing insights from other international organisations and highlighting specific approaches and measures adopted by different host countries.

EMN Georgia and EMN Cyprus organise a joint conference on information campaigns which constitute a central element of current migration strategies, both at the national and European levels. 

During the first half of 2024, pivotal policy and political developments in the area of asylum and migration were put on the agenda, including the voting of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum by the European Parliament, and the European elections. At this critical juncture, there is a need for credible evidence, established expertise and open dialogue on the direction and shape of future policymaking. Within this context, MIGNEX is convening a high-level Policy Conference on EU migration and development policy.

This conference organised by EMN Netherlands, in cooperation with EMN Belgium, will focus on family reunification of beneficiaries of international protection in EMN Member and Observer Countries. The influence of European case law in this field will also be examined in more detail. 

As the demand for migrant workers increases amid persistent labour shortages and geopolitical shifts in Central and Eastern Europe, this conference will delve into the ways countries attempt to attract migrants, ensure ethical recruitment, and implement labour market integration policies. 

In the context of growing diversity and societal polarisation within European municipalities and cities, the Government of Flanders is inviting mayors and local government officials to gather for sharing insights, mutual learning, and cooperative exploration on advancing diversity policies and enhancing social cohesion collectively.

On 18 April 2024, the Belgian Contact Point of the European Migration Network (EMN) will bring together Belgian experts in the field of asylum and migration to discuss key developments that marked the year 2023 and the projects and challenges for 2024. The event will offer general information sessions as well as interactive breakout sessions on specific topics of interest.

As the Year of Skills nears its end, this conference will take stock of its achievements and assess future priorities. Panellists will discuss labour migration and skills-based mobility initiatives, the EU’s attractiveness in the global competition for talent, and international partnerships for development and mobility.

The CNCD-11.11.11 and 11.11.11 are organising a two-day European Citizens' Summit, bringing together Belgian and European civil society, and fostering collaborations on cross-cutting issues. A workshop will specifically focus on the New Pact on Migration and Asylum and the way forward towards migration justice.

The Egmont Institute and the European Policy Centre organise a hybrid conference that aims to provide valuable insights into the complexities of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, focusing on the delicate balance between solidarity and responsibility within the evolving asylum framework of the EU.

On the occasion of the second anniversary of the activation of the TPD, this Migration Policy Institute Europe webinar will discuss what will happen when the TPD expires in a year’s time. The findings from comparative research in Latin America, Turkey, and Europe on approaches to temporary status and the arc of public support for displaced persons will also be presented.

The event will showcase tangible achievements, lessons, and insights from Inspire - Incubating Skills Partnerships beneficial to Migrants, Countries of Origin and Destination - including best practices and strategies from international partners, and encourage innovative initiatives in skills development and international mobility.

The Department of Work and Social Economy is organizing an information session to explain the changes in regulations regarding the employment of foreign workers in Flanders. Such changes will enter into force on 1 March 2024.
