Each year, EMN Belgium organises a policy event to present and discuss the main findings of the annual report on migration and asylum and to examine the challenges for the coming year. Experts from the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, the Immigration Office, the Office of the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons (CGVS), the Federal agency for the reception of asylum seekers (Fedasil), the Federal Migration Centre (Myria), various Federal Public Services (Interior, Justice, Employment, Foreign Affairs...) and regional administrations, the Federal Police, IOM, Caritas and other organisations working in this field come together to address various issues and take advantage of networking opportunities.

On 18 April 2024, EMN Belgium renews this experience and proposes a particularly interactive and concrete format. After a plenary session where participants will examine key and overarching changes, they will be invited to take part in four out of the seven break-out sessions focusing on the following topics of interest:

• Measures in response to the reception crisis
• New right of residence for stateless persons
• Information campaigns in third countries
• One-stop desk models for information provision
• Ongoing challenges and projects in the CGVS
• Belgium’s Talent Mobility projects
• Labour migration: critical reflection on emerging trends

The event will also offer several networking moments to enable participants to make contacts and exchange knowledge, experiences and views.
