EMN Lithuania National Conference 2024: Navigating a Changing Labour Migration Landscape in Lithuania and EMN Countries

As the demand for migrant workers increases amid persistent labour shortages and geopolitical shifts in Central and Eastern Europe, this conference will delve into the ways countries attempt to attract migrants, ensure ethical recruitment, and implement labour market integration policies.

What

The significance of migrant workers is on the rise, given the ongoing challenge of persistent labour shortages across all skill levels in European countries, notably in construction, healthcare, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields. However, the labour migration landscape in Central and Eastern Europe changes due to geopolitical turmoil arising from the actions of the Russian and Belarusian regimes.

In this context, the conference will explore how EMN Member and Observer Countries address existing labour shortages and adapt to changing political situations. The following panels will allow discussions on:

  • Strategies and Lessons from Countries’ Experiences in Attracting Labour Migrants
  • How to Ensure Rights-Based Labour Mobility
  • Role of Governmental Institutions Addressing Changing Labour Landscape

Where

In Vilnius, Lithuania.

When

On 24 April 2024 (9:00-14:20).
