Conference: Mobility and labour dynamics after the EU Year of Skills: Are we fit for the future?

As the Year of Skills nears its end, this conference will take stock of its achievements and assess future priorities. Panellists will discuss labour migration and skills-based mobility initiatives, the EU’s attractiveness in the global competition for talent, and international partnerships for development and mobility.

What

Launched in May 2023, the European Year of Skills provided renewed impetus to the EU’s efforts to address labour shortages across Member States. The initiative has also promoted greater accessibility to the EU labour market from abroad. However, challenges remain, and persisting skills gaps must be addressed while ensuring that proposed and ongoing initiatives are effectively implemented. This conference will take stock of these achievements and also assess future priorities.

The conference is held under the auspices of the "Fit for the Future? The European Skills Agenda between Migration Potential and Labour Dynamics' project", in cooperation with the European Policy Centre, the Egmont Institute, the International Centre for Migration Policy and Enabel.
