Le retour des migrants en situation irrégulière est l'un des piliers de la politique de l'UE en matière de migration et d'asile. En 2017, le REM entreprendra une étude sur l'effectivité du retour depuis les Etats membres de l'UE, mettant en lumière les défis et bonnes pratiques liés aux règles et normes de l'UE. Le rapport de synthèse est attendu fin 2017 tandis que le rapport belge suivra peu après début 2018.
