The Policy Paper supports the effective transposition and implementation of the revised EU Anti-Trafficking Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1712), in particular the requirement for EU Member States to establish National Referral Mechanisms (NRMs) and appoint national focal points. It provides an EU-wide overview of the structure and functioning of NRMs and cross-border referral arrangements, based on a comparative analysis across all 27 Member States. It identifies key developments, remaining challenges and areas for further action.

De Europese Commissie heeft België en 19 andere EU-lidstaten een aanmaningsbrief gestuurd omdat zij de volledige omzetting van de herziene EU-richtlijn inzake mensenhandel niet hebben meegedeeld. De Commissie verzond deze brieven op 25 september 2026, nadat de termijn waarbinnen de lidstaten de richtlijn in nationaal recht moesten omzetten, was verstreken.

The Council of Ministers approved, at second reading, two draft bills aimed at implementing the European Pact on Migration and Asylum in Belgian law. The texts were adopted with a view to their submission to the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium under an urgent procedure. The first draft bill aims to apply or transpose eight legislative instruments of the Pact into Belgian law, while the second concerns procedures before the Council for Alien Law Litigation.
