EMN Italy Conference: Civic and Language Training for Third-country Nationals in Italy – Good Practices, Policy Frameworks and Future Perspectives
This national conference will examine the role of civic and language training in supporting the inclusion of third-country nationals in Italy. It will discuss policy and institutional frameworks, experiences from the 2023–2026 programming cycle and practices developed at regional and local level, while also exploring approaches from other EU Member States.
What
Organised by EMN Italy, the conference will examine civic and language training as a component of integration policies for third-country nationals in Italy. It will consider the policy and institutional frameworks underpinning these measures at national and European level, including the role of coordination between different levels of government and relevant stakeholders.
The discussions will draw in particular on the experience of the Italian Regional Plans for civic and language training, supported through the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). They will address issues including access to and quality of training, territorial differences in provision, coordination between language training and other inclusion policies, and continuity between activities in countries of origin and integration pathways in Italy.
The programme will feature three thematic sessions. The first will focus on policy approaches and institutional frameworks for civic and language training; the second will examine training as a component of multi-level governance, drawing on the experience of the Italian Regional Plans; and the third will present local experiences and practices, including initiatives targeting vulnerable groups. The conference will also include examples and practices from other EU Member States.
