Staatloosheid in de EU (EMN Inform)

In de Europese Unie zijn naar schatting 400.000 mensen erkend staatloos of hebben geen vastgestelde nationaliteit (UNHCR, 2018). In 2017 waren er niet minder dan 2.100 staatloze kinderen in Europa geregistreerd. Dit is een verviervoudiging t.o.v. 2010. Hoe stellen EU-lidstaten staatloosheid vast? Impact of visa liberalisation on countries of destination (EMN)

European Commission expands on disembarkation and controlled centre concepts

Today, the Commission is expanding on the concept of controlled centres as well as short-term measures that could be taken to improve the processing of migrants being disembarked in the EU, and giving a first outline of the possible way forward for the establishment of regional disembarkation arrangements with third countries.

The acts on the entry-exit system and on its integration in the Schengen border code enter into force

Temporary Reintroduction of Border Control (European Commission)

Drop in the number of migrants crossing the Mediterranean

01/09/2017

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), published data on recent arrivals in Europe.  Compared with the 273,000 migrants who landed from January through Aug. 27, 2016, about 121,000 arrived during the same period this year. Furthermore, there was no evidence of any migrant dying in the Mediterranean since Aug. 9

EU Trust Fund for Africa adopts €46 million programme to support integrated migration and border management in Libya

Following up on the Commission's Action Plan to support Italy from 4 July, the EU Trust Fund for Africa adopted today a programme worth €46 million to reinforce the integrated migration and border management capacities of the Libyan authorities.

Ukrainians can now travel for short stays to EU Member States without a visa

As from today Ukrainian citizens holding biometric passports can travel to the Schengen Zone without a visa for a period of 90 days within any 180-day period for purposes other than working.

European Commission recommends phasing out of temporary border controls over next six months

New Regulation reinforces checks at external borders
