The EMN Italy National Conference 2025 focuses on the implementation of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum. Organised by the Central Directorate for Migration Policies within the Italian Ministry of the Interior, the event highlights the role of coordinated multi-level governance involving European, national, regional, and local actors. The conference aims to explore policy developments, governance structures, and practical experiences related to migration and asylum management in Italy and across the EU.

On 27 October 2025 in Luxembourg, stakeholders will gather to discuss how the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum addresses statelessness as a vulnerability. The meeting will focus on early experiences with implementing the new obligations under the Screening and Asylum Procedures Regulations. Organised under the EMN Platform on Statelessness, it will provide space for exchange among national experts, EU agencies, and international organisations.

Organised by the Czech National Contact Point of the European Migration Network, the conference will explore forthcoming changes and approaches to integration policies across the EU. It will also reflect on the development of integration policy in the Czech Republic and support the definition of a long-term national vision, including the roles of the various actors involved.

This conference aims to facilitate discussion among authorities and experts on labour migration and the response to labour market needs through sustainable and effective migration policies on a national and EU level. Selected institutions and experts will address the labour market trends and workforce needs in Cyprus and the EU, the challenges and opportunities of legal migration pathways for Cyprus, and EU best practices.

This conference aims to provide legal practitioners with an update on the reform of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) and the efforts undertaken to implement the newly adopted EU Pact on Migration. Externalisation of European refugee protection and practical aspects of operationalising the Pact together with the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights, will also be addressed.

The event will bring together experts from Germany and across Europe to discuss recent developments in family reunification. Debates will address the tension between safeguarding fundamental rights and meeting the requirements of migration management. Participants will explore how these priorities can be reconciled in practice through national and European approaches.

This conference will explore three main areas: national policies and victim protection across Member States, strategies to address new forms of trafficking and dismantle criminal networks, and perspectives on international cooperation tools related to security. The event will bring together policymakers, experts, and civil society to discuss these challenges. Participants will also hear about the EU Strategy on combating trafficking in human beings.

Fedasil is organising an exhibition on voluntary return and reintegration at the Wintercircus. The Ghent-based Magnum photographer Carl De Keyzer portrays the stories of, among others, Rosa from El Salvador and Igis from Albania. This exhibition is organised in collaboration with Caritas International and the International Organization for Migration, with the support of AMIF.

The EU Commission launched a call for proposals under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) to finance projects aiming to improve healthcare access for migrants, support migrant women through better labour market integration, enhance digital literacy, create accessible education, ensure the protection of migrant children. The available call budget is EUR 34 million.

During this online event, the European Migration Network (EMN) will present the 2024 Asylum and Migration Overview (AMO). This comprehensive publication provides a clear overview of the main trends and developments in migration and asylum across EMN Member and Observer countries in 2024. Additionally, a new interactive format will be introduced to enhance the accessibility of the information for a broader audience. Participants will gain insight into the key policy changes and challenges that shaped migration and asylum in Europe over the past year.

In July 2025, the Odysseus Network for Legal Studies on Migration and Asylum in Europe organises the 25th edition of its yearly summer school. It will focus on the European immigration and asylum policies from a legal perspective, including the latest developments in 2025. Special emphasis will be placed on the adoption of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum.

This high-level conference will provide panel discussions among EU Member States’ ministries, the European Commission, EU agencies, national stakeholders, international organisations, and third-country officials to exchange views on tackling irregular migration, border management, countering migrant smuggling, and addressing root causes of migration.

From Brussels to Virton and beyond, a wide range of activities are being organised across Belgium in the lead-up to World Refugee Day on 20 June 2025. Cultural events, open days, artistic performances and community gatherings will shine a light on the talents, stories and resilience of people forced to flee.

The European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) will host its first State of Asylum Conference, bringing together policymakers, EU institutions, international organisations, and experts to discuss the current landscape of international protection and migration in the EU, the challenges faced, and the evolving EU migration agenda, particularly with regard to the Pact on Migration and Asylum.

Amnesty International and the Human Rights League are proposing a meeting with Françoise Tulkens, former judge and Vice-President of the European Court of Human Rights, and Manuela Cadelli, judge at the Court of First Instance of Namur, to examine the consequences of the letter from nine European authorities calling for a new interpretation of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). 

This conference will explore the role labour migration might play in addressing labour market shortages in the Netherlands and the broader European context, while considering both the benefits and the challenges it brings. Participants will look at case studies and delve into concrete examples from other EU Member States, and explore various approaches to managing labour migration. Policymakers and experts will engage in this dialogue to examine the diverse policy choices that might shape the future of labour migration policies. 

The European Migration Network Luxembourg (EMN Luxembourg) and the UniGR-Center for Border Studies (UniGR-CBS) organise this conference to mark the 40th anniversary of the Schengen Agreement and to reflect on it critically in light of current developments. Places are limited.

The conference will explore the future of Ukrainian displaced persons beyond temporary protection and will bring together policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to discuss strategies for policy transitions, address employment related integration challenges, share best practices, and examine the role of the diaspora in supporting long-term solutions.

EMN Luxembourg, in cooperation with the Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents in Luxembourg and the European Network of Ombudsmen for Children, organise a joint capacity-building event to support Member States and their respective institutions in implementing the Pact, especially regarding children’s rights. 

This event aims to help migration policymakers and practitioners better understand the potential of AI applications as well as the regulatory framework of the AI Act and its impact on the use of AI in migration management, and to discuss the impact of AI on policymaking.

The EU launched a call for proposals under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund to prevent irregular migration through awareness-raising and information campaigns on the risks of irregular migration in selected third countries and within Europe. The available call budget is EUR 10 000 000.

This workshop, jointly organised by the General Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Luxembourg, the Detention Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs and EMN Luxembourg, will serve as a platform for Member States to exchange their first insights on progress made and challenges encountered while adapting to the new requirements put in place by the Screening Regulation.

This workshop, jointly organised by the Migration Policy Center (MPC) and the Mercator Forum Migration and Democracy (MIDEM), will provide a platform for presenting and discussing empirical research on public attitudes toward migration, the sociopolitical mechanisms driving migration-related polarisation, and the policy responses addressing these challenges.

The European Commission has launched a call of expression of interest to renew the composition of the “EU Civil Society Platform against trafficking in human beings”. Civil society organisations that are legally based in EU Member States and have demonstrated experience in the protection of and assistance to victims of trafficking in human beings are invited to apply before 5 March 2025.

The European Network on Statelessness organises an annual webinar to provide participants with a state of play on statelessness in Europe and an opportunity to learn about the latest developments.
