Onder de goedkeuring van het EMN Platform voor Staatloosheid onderzoekt deze ad hoc vraag het wettelijk kader en de praktijk van EMN Lidstaten inzake het voorkomen dat staatlozen in meerdere landen tegelijk sociale voorzieningen en gezondheidszorg ontvangen.

The EMN has collected data on statelessness from across EU Member States and Georgia to assess progress, draw key findings on the state of play, and provide an overview of how statelessness is addressed. 

In de Europese Unie zijn naar schatting 400.000 mensen erkend staatloos of hebben geen vastgestelde nationaliteit (UNHCR, 2018). In 2017 waren er niet minder dan 2.100 staatloze kinderen in Europa geregistreerd. Dit is een verviervoudiging t.o.v. 2010. Hoe stellen EU-lidstaten staatloosheid vast? UNHCR developed a practical tool called "Stateless Persons in Detention: A tool for their identification and enhanced protection". The purpose of the instrument is to facilitate identification o persons in the context of detention who may be stateless and to support the achievement of solutions to their predicament.

The handbook highlights the complex implications of statelessness for individuals, states and societies, with good practices and recommendations aiming to increase engagement and progress in addressing this phenomenon by OSCE participating States.

This report of the ‘Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion’ (ISI) explores the urgency of and opportunities for addressing childhood statelessness. Over 50 experts and organizations have contributed material – essays, interviews, photographs and more.

Deze EMN Inform onderzoekt – inter alia – de toetreding tot de conventies van 1954 en 1961 omtrent staatloosheid, procedures om de status van staatloze te verkrijgen, rechten toegekend aan erkende staatlozen, en de situatie van staatloze minderjarigen in de EU.

Deze multistakeholderbijeenkomst, mede-georganiseerd door EMN Luxemburg en de Raad van Europa binnen het kader van het EMN Platform over Staatloosheid, zal gaan over kindvriendelijke procedures bij staatloosheid en nationaliteitsverkrijging, de bewijslast bij kinderen zonder nationaliteit, en de toegang tot nationaliteit voor kinderen.

Het Europees Platform over Staatloosheid, de VN Hoge Commissaris voor de Vluchtelingen en het Europees Migratienetwerk the European hebben een conferentie georganiseerd over "Addressing Statelessness in the European Union, One year on from the adoption of European Council Conclusions". 

The Hungarian Contact Point of the EMN is organizing this conference to examine different examples of international cooperation to address statelessness.

This EMN/UNHCR Ireland seminar invites participants to examine both the challenges and advantages associated with establishing a statelessness determination procedure.

The Luxembourg Contact Point of the EMN organizes a Conference on Statelessness to foster the exchange of good practices among Member States.
