Op 27 oktober 2025 komen belanghebbenden in Luxemburg bijeen om te bespreken hoe het EU-pact inzake migratie en asiel staatloosheid als kwetsbaarheid aanpakt. De bijeenkomst zal zich richten op de eerste ervaringen met de uitvoering van de nieuwe verplichtingen uit hoofde van de verordeningen inzake screening en asielprocedures. De bijeenkomst wordt georganiseerd in het kader van het EMN-platform inzake staatloosheid en biedt ruimte voor uitwisseling tussen nationale deskundigen, EU-agentschappen en internationale organisaties.

Deze ad hoc vraag brengt in kaart hoe reisdocumenten worden afgegeven aan personen die als staatloos zijn erkend in de EMN-leden en waarnemende landen. Er wordt informatie gegeven over het type en de geldigheid van dergelijke documenten, evenals over de vraag of erkenning als staatloze automatisch leidt tot het verkrijgen van een verblijfsvergunning.

The law of 10 March 2024 which creates a residence status as a stateless person in Belgium, comes into force on 1 September 2024. Applications for admission to stay on the grounds of statelessness must now be submitted directly to the Immigration Office by registered mail.
