Annual BE EMN NCP Policy Event 2018

Socioeconomic monitoring: Labour market and origin 2017

Refugees in Europe. Review of Integration Practices & Policies (European Foundation for Democracy)

One of the greatest challenges facing twenty-first century Europe is the mass migration and integration of refugees who cross borders in search of safer lives. This report of the European Foundation for Democracy analyses the wide-ranging issues relating to the integration of refugees in seven European countries, including Belgium) and presents our key findings – both in terms of good practices and areas for concern – as well as recommendations for change.

European Foundation for Democracy - Panel Discussion: Voices from Refugees in Europe: Responsibility to Protect

The panel discussion will present the findings of the recently completed research project of the European Foundation for Democracy which examined how different European countries with high numbers of refugees and/or experience of integrating high numbers of refugees are managing the integration process and identifies good practices for integrating refugees. The research looked in particular at the situation of Syrian refugees in Europe, though not exclusively.

The waiting period for asylum seekers to be allowed to work in Belgium is reduced from 6 to 4 months following the registration of their application

As from 9 November 2015, an asylum seeker can obtain a C work permit four months after applying for asylum. The 6 month period was cut to 4 months by a Royal Decree which entered into force today.
