Het GFMD 2012 zal voor 2012 de focus leggen op op de versterking van de ontwikkeling van migranten en hun bijdrage tot de ontwikkeling van gemeenschappen. Een voorlopige agenda voor het GFMD werd voorgesterd op de High Level Working Group on Asylum and Migration op 13 september.

The first issue on "Global Perspectives on Migration and Development" explores fresh strategies proposed by the GFMD in its fourth year of operation in Mexico and beyond.

Het handboek werd voorgesteld en becomentarieerd door panelleden van IOM, MPI, de Zweedse Ambassadeur voor 'the Global Forum on Migration and Development' (GFMD) zowel als door vertegenwoordigers van de Europese Commissie, de Raad van het 'Diaspora Forum for Development' en andere stakeholders.
