New campaign "Without papers, without rights, without shelter" launched to protect the most vulnerable

Samusocial, CIRÉ, Médecins du Monde, Ilot and the Brussels Platform Armoede have launched the campaign "Without papers, without rights, without shelter" to demonstrate the reality of undocumented persons and to propose concrete recommendations to policymakers in this field.

Among the homeless persons welcomed in Brussels in Samusocial centres, nearly 70% are undocumented people or persons without a valid residence permit. The absence of solutions keeps these people, sometimes for years, in these emergency centres, which are unsuitable for their situation.

Based on these observations, Samusocial, CIRÉ, Médecins du Monde, Ilot and the Brussels Platform Armoede have decided to campaign together

Through the campaign "Without papers, without rights, without shelter", they want to illustrate the reality of these people's precarious lives. Through the eyes of photographer Cédric Gerbehaye and texts by Caroline Lamarche, portraits and real stories are exhibited online and also in the Brussels Stock Exchange from 7 until 30 November 2023.

Concrete recommendations are also presented around four priority themes: access to employment, access to healthcare, chronicity of homelessness and gender specificities. In order to read these recommendations (in French), please click on this link.
