Conference - Migration in rights and numbers 2018 - family life in jeopardy (Myria)

On the occasion of the publication of its annual report "Migration in rights and numbers: family life in jeopardy", Myria organizes a conference in the Belgian Senate on June 26.

On the conference the latest report of Myria will be presented: "Migration in rights and numbers 2018". The report highlights every year recent available data and it provides an analysis the current issues at stake in the field of immigration and asylum. Myria also addresses a number of recommendations towards the government on the respect of fundamental rights of foreigners.

After a general presentation, the conference will focus on this year's focus on the right to family life. Myria argues this right is under pressure since a number of years, especially since the reforms of 2011. Family reunification is the most important legal migration channel. Myria elaborates on the following subjects:

  • family reunification for beneficiaries of international protection;
  • the right to family life in the Dublin system;
  • the importance of a family life between parents and children;
  • the evolution of marriages inside the Moroccan and Turkish communities.

The programme will be made available soon. More information on the website of Myria. The conference will be held in Dutch and in French.
