This report examines the qualifications assessment process for foreign workers in regulated occupations and identifies several emerging policies and trends driven in part by industry and employers.

This EMN Inform summarises the main developments in 2011 in legal migration and mobility. Topics addressed include statistics, promoting legal migration channels, economic, family Reunification and integration.

In a globalised economic environment, labour mobility both within the EU and between the EU and the rest of the world is a growing reality and necessity. Social security coordination is a system of rules aimed at facilitating such mobility.

Ms Joëlle Milquet, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Employment and Equal Opportunities responsible for migration and asylum policy, asked the European Economic and Social Committee to draw up an exploratory opinion on the role of legal immigration in the context of demographic challenges.

The event will showcase tangible achievements, lessons, and insights from Inspire - Incubating Skills Partnerships beneficial to Migrants, Countries of Origin and Destination - including best practices and strategies from international partners, and encourage innovative initiatives in skills development and international mobility.

The Commission is today presenting a Skills and Talent Mobility package to make the EU more attractive to talent from outside the EU and to facilitate mobility within it. Today's measures include a new EU Talent Pool to match employers in the EU with jobseekers in third countries, as well as measures to promote the recognition of qualifications and learner's mobility. 

From 9 to 13 September 2013, the conference will provide a forum for discussing and developing research, policy and practice on migration and integration.
