Webinar on 2019 migration trends and policy responses to COVID-19

The event will serve to launch the 2019 edition of the EMN Annual Report on Migration and Asylum. It also seeks to provide the latest information on Member States responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.

What

In June 2020, the EMN will publish its 2019 Annual Report on Migration and Asylum, at a time of unprecedented disruption and uncertainty. The spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic has directly and indirectly impacted migration and asylum policies.

Under these circumstances, the launch of the 2019 EMN Annual Report on Migration and Asylum, aims to be the opportunity to review migration developments and policy responses in a changing world.

The webinar on 'Managing migration and asylum in a changing world: 2019 trends and policy responses to COVID-19 to date' will firstly review key developments in legislation, policy and practice on migration and asylum across the EU in 2019. It will then focus on two good practice examples relevant to the recent circumstances following the spread of the pandemic. Finally, it will showcase findings collected by the EMN related to immediate policy changes and practical solutions implemented by Member States since the COVID-19 outbreak and until the day of the webinar.
