Humanitarian corridor: 34 Syrians arrive in Belgium

Today, 10 families with a humanitarian visa arrived in Zaventem. They will apply for international protection once in Belgium. They will be hosted in Christian communities, in cooperation with Caritas, during the first year.

On 22 November 2017, the State Secretary for Asylum Policy and Migration and the Sant'Egidio Community signed an agreement under which 150 vulnerable refugees from Syria and Turkey would be allowed to come to Belgium with a humanitarian visa. 38 persons had already arrived. With the 34 persons arrived today, in total 72 persons have arrived based on the above mentioned agreement. The remaining 78 persons will travel to Belgium in the near future.
