Annual Report on Migration 2011 (Centre for equal opportunities and Opposition to Racism)

The Centre for Equal Opportunities and Opposition to Racism presented today its fifth Annual Report on Migration, with data and analysis on different migration topics (international protection, the right to family life, return, ...)

Data show a continuous increase of the number of immigrations of foreigners towards Belgium since the middle of the 1980's. 140.083 immigrations of foreigners (EU and non-EU) were registered in 2010. This is an increase of 11% from 2009 to 2010. 55.175 foreigners emigrated from Belgium in 2010.

In 2010 67.653 first residence permits were delivered to non-EU-citizens - in 42,5% of the cases the permit was delivered on the basis of  family reunification.
