Conference: The Implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum in light of fundamental rights
Four months after the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum became fully applicable across the European Union, this conference will take stock of its initial implementation and examine its implications for fundamental rights. Bringing together legal practitioners, academics, policymakers and civil society representatives, the event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the first lessons learned in Belgium and across other EU Member States.
What
Organised by the Association pour le Droit des Étrangers (ADDE), in partnership with AVOCATS.BE and the Foreigners' Law Commission of the Brussels Bar, this conference marks ADDE's 50th anniversary and will focus on the first experiences of implementing the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum.
The conference will bring together legal practitioners, academics, representatives of Belgian and European institutions, and civil society organisations to examine how the Pact is being implemented in Belgium and other EU Member States. Discussions will go beyond an analysis of the new legal framework to explore its practical effects and the challenges it raises for the protection of fundamental rights.
The programme will conclude with a forward-looking panel discussion on the broader implications of the Pact for European migration policies, the evolving perception of migrants, the rule of law and the protection of fundamental rights.
