During this policy talk, Jean-Louis De Brouwer (Director, European Affairs Program, Egmont Institute) and Ralph Genetzke (Director, ICMPD Brussels Mission) will assess the main lessons and migration policy developments of 2023 and offer their insights for the year ahead in a discussion moderated by Violeta Wagner (Regional Portfolio Manager, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, ICMPD).

Researcher and author Pascal Debruyne will present his book which contains stories of parents and minors who struggle through the family reunification procedure and stories of care providers who try their best to support these families. Panel discussions will also take place with experts in this field.

The 14th summit of the Global Forum on Migration and Development will focus on "From environmental concerns to cultural aspects of migration: adopting an inclusive approach to meet the challenges and increases the opportunities for human mobility". This high-level event will mark the conclusion of the French Chairmanship of the GFMD. 

Social Citizenship and Migration (SCM), which is one of the multidisciplinary programmes launched by Leiden University, will hold a one-day event to feature research on migration and social citizenship from a variety of perspectives and methodologies, including history, political science, sociology, anthropology and economics. 

Eurochild and the Federation of Non-Governmental Organisations for Children (FONPC) are organising an international conference to share good practices and lessons on how civil society can facilitate the integration of refugee and asylum-seeking children.
