About this study:

Since 2001, Deloitte conducted a two-yearly comparative study on the immigration formalities for foreign knowledge workers (TCN's) in Belgium, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Spain and Germany.

The first part of the study provides a brief overview of immigration processes in the countries listed above. The second part of the study compares the necessary requirements.

According to Deloitte Belgium's comparative study the Belgian migration process is by far the quickest and easiest to apply to. The time required for a work permit in Belgium is about 3 weeks. The necessary requirements for a highly skilled employee for a work permit is a minimum income level of 36.604 EUR on a yearly basis in 2011. This study concludes that in contrast to the previous years and in contrast to the other six countries, it is easier for civilians of third countries to be employed in Belgium.
