EMN Spain National Conference 2026: Youth, Integration and Participation - Challenges and Opportunities

This national conference will examine the challenges and opportunities surrounding the integration and participation of young migrants and young people with a migrant background in an increasingly diverse Europe. It will explore the role of education, sport, culture and the digital environment in fostering social inclusion, while addressing barriers such as racism and discrimination.

What

Organised by EMN Spain, the conference will reflect on the integration, participation and sense of belonging of young migrants and young people with a migrant background in Spain and across the European Union. It will consider how European and national policies can promote equal opportunities, social cohesion and active participation in society.

The discussions will address current integration and inclusion policies, as well as challenges faced by young people in areas such as education, sport and the digital environment. The conference will also examine how these spaces can support social connections and a sense of belonging, while addressing prejudice, racism, discrimination and hate speech.

The programme will feature three thematic panels. The first will discuss integration and inclusion in a diverse Europe; the second will focus on sport, culture and education as pathways to integration and on combating discrimination; and the third, “Young Voices: Experiences and Participation”, will give young people an opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives on integration and participation.
