Programmes and Strategies in Belgium Fostering Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration in Third Countries (EMN)

How is assisted return defined? How is voluntary return implemented in Belgium and what is the target group? This study examines further the political and institutional context, the legal basis as well as programs and data available on the subject.

About this study:

Voluntary return, which falls under the responsibility of the Belgian Minister in charge of Social Integration, includes a social dimension, which has an impact on its purpose, target group and support which is provided by various actors. The organization of voluntary return is complex and obstacles and difficulties impede its implementation. The Belgian programs are evaluated and improved, using funding from the European Fund for Return.

This study is available in English, French and Dutch.
