Annual report 2012 (CGRS)

The Office of the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons (CGRS) presented its annual report for the reference year 2012.

For the first time in four years the number of asylum applications in Belgium decreased (from nearly 25.500 cases in 2011 to nearly 21.500 in 2012). This decline, along with an increase in the number of decisions taken by the CGRS led to a significant decrease of the asylum backlog.

In the first chapter of the annual report all relevant figures and statistics such as applications, decisions and workload are presented.

In the second chapter the organisation itself is described as well as European projects and developments.

The annual report and previous editions can be consulted on the website of the CGRS in Dutch and in French and with some delay in English.
