A "White Marriages" cell has been created in the Special Laws Division of the Brussels South police area. It has started its activities on 3 december 2012.
Given the complexity of and rise in white marriages and legal cohabitations , a "white marriages" cell has been created in the Brussels South police area and tasked with the following missions:

- Treat "white marriage" apostilles emanating from the "marital status service" and conduct resulting investigations
- Manage and centralize administrative investigations prior to marriages and legal cohabitations involving a foreigner, as requested by the "marital status" of the three municipal administrations of the police area.
- Check the validity of identification documents presented for registration to the municipal authorities and perform checks in police databases within the framework of the project "Europe" (4150 checks in 2011).
