The Refugee Walk is an annual fundraising event organised by Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen. For the 2026 edition, participants could choose between 20- and 40-kilometre routes starting from Brussels, or organise their own route elsewhere. More than 3,600 people took part, including individuals, families, groups of friends and colleagues, as well as participants from organisations and educational institutions.
Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen reported that €750.000 had been raised by 4 October, compared with an initial fundraising target of €500.000. The organisation stated that the funds would be used to inform people at the start of their asylum procedure, provide free legal advice and support activities relating to the rights of people seeking protection.
The 2026 edition was centred at Studio CityGate in Anderlecht, while participants could also take part through self-selected routes. The fundraising campaign remained open after the event, according to Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen.
