Brussels, 15 November 2011 – By publishing its Green Paper on the application by the Member States of the right to family reunification in accordance with the Directive 2003/86/EC, the Commission reopens the debate on the right to family reunification for non-EU nationals living in the EU.

Depending on the outcome of the consultation, the Commission will decide whether any policy follow-up is necessary – such as setting up new guidelines, modifying the current rules or leaving the legislation as it is.
