Organised by EMN Luxembourg, the meeting will focus on ten years of cooperation through the EMN Platform on Statelessness and its contribution to strengthening knowledge exchange and cooperation on statelessness in Europe. Established in 2016 following the Justice and Home Affairs Council Conclusions of 3-4 December 2015, the Platform has provided a forum for Member States and key stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share experiences and discuss developments relating to statelessness.

The event will look back at a decade of cooperation, highlighting developments such as increased attention to the identification and protection of stateless persons, improvements in data collection and research, and the inclusion of provisions on statelessness in the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum.

Participants will also be introduced to the latest EMN Inform “Statelessness in the European Union, Norway, Georgia and Serbia”, followed by a moderated discussion bringing together representatives of European and international organisations, including the Fundamental Rights Agency, the European Union Agency for Asylum, the Council of Europe, UNHCR and the European Network on Statelessness. A presentation by a stateless community member or an academic will provide a further perspective on the challenges and experiences related to statelessness.

The meeting will conclude with a discussion on the future of the EMN Platform on Statelessness, providing an opportunity to identify priorities for the years ahead and reaffirm the importance of continued cooperation among Member States and stakeholders.
