EMN Ireland Presidency Conference: Future-proofing Europe’s labour migration policy (1,5 days)
This high-level conference will explore new approaches to managing labour immigration in response to a changing labour and skills landscape in Europe. Bringing together policymakers, experts, social partners and other stakeholders from the EU and beyond, the event will examine how labour mobility can help address skills and labour shortages, support competitiveness and benefit both local labour markets and migrant workers.
What
Organised by EMN Ireland within the framework of the Ireland Presidency of the Council of the European Union, this high-level conference will focus on the challenges facing European labour markets as a result of demographic ageing and the digital and green transitions. Against this backdrop, the conference will explore new approaches to labour mobility and the ways in which the EU, its Member States and EMN Observer Countries are responding to evolving labour and skills needs.
Over five thematic discussion panels and interactive sessions, taking place over one and a half days, participants will discuss how to make full use of available skills and qualifications, attract and retain workers, and develop sustainable labour mobility systems. Particular attention will be given to approaches that can support local labour markets and economic competitiveness while ensuring fair outcomes for migrant workers.
The conference will bring together participants from the European Commission, European Parliament, EU agencies, EU Member States, EMN Observer Countries, the European Labour Authority, labour standards authorities, OECD, IOM, World Bank, ICMPD, civil society, academia, NGOs, social partners and the private sector.
