EMN Conference - Rethinking returns from the EU (Slovakia, 2 days)

On the 6th and 7th of July, the Slovakian National Contact Point - in connection with its Member State's Presidency of the Council of the EU - organizes the EMN conference on sustainable returns and cooperation with countries of origin.

What

The EMN conference will seek to discuss the current state of play, good practice and lessons learnt in return and reintegration of migrants from outside the EEA for further use by the EU and its Member States. It will put European return policy and measures into the broader context of present migration trends and realities as well as of situation in the countries of return.

In several panel discussions, speakers from the European Commission, EU agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, academia and selected EU Member States will present their inputs on the following topics:

  • Current migration situation in Europe and the role of the EU return policy amidst of it;
  • Enhancing cooperation with countries of return from the EU perspective;
  • Practical cooperation in achieving sustainable return and reintegration: ensuring an efficient return scheme;
  • Perspectives from countries of origin on return and reintegration;
  • Approaches to rejected asylum seekers and non-returnable migrants;
  • Understanding migrant’s awareness of their situation and relevance for European policy-making in the field of irregular migration and return.

Registration

The event targets policy-makers and practitioners working in the field of return and reintegration of third country nationals.
