Directive on Long-term Residents amended

The Council Directive 2003/109/EC has been amended by the Directive 2011/51/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 May 2011 to extend its scope to beneficiaries of international protection

After long negotiations, an agreement has finally been reached between the Council and the European Parliament to broaden the scope of the Directive on Long-term Residents to beneficiaries of international protection. This compromise is one of the most important achievements of the Belgian EU Presidency in the field of asylum and migration policies.
