We can all be part of the fight against trafficking in human beings

For the EU Anti-Trafficking Day, the European Commission is launching an awareness-raising campaign to inform citizens on the reality of this crime. The European Commission invites every citizen to help raise awareness by becoming part of the ‘End human trafficking. Break the invisible chain’ campaign.

On average, 7.000 victims of human trafficking are registered in the EU every year. But many more go undetected.

Prevention is key to combating trafficking in human beings. In order to raise awareness, the European Commission is launching today the "End human trafficking. Break the invisible chain" campaign. The aim of such campaign is to prevent more people from being trapped by traffickers and to allow victims to be visible and get the support they need.

As every person’s contribution could be decisive in the fight against trafficking in human beings, the European Commission invites citizens to recognise better the signs that somebody might be a victim of human trafficking, to be careful not to use the services of trafficked persons, to report suspected cases of trafficking and to provide immediate support to the victims themselves.
