EMN Luxembourg Conference: Children in Migration – Access to Education

This conference will focus on access to education and the role of education in the development and social inclusion of migrant children. It will be an opportunity for networking and experience sharing between partners who are working on questions related to the well-being of migrant children, as well as an opportunity to bring in different perspectives from other (selected) EU Member States, which have reported developments on access to education for migrant children in the last few years.

What

This year, the annual national conference of EMN Luxembourg will focus on the topic of children in migration. The preliminary findings of the joint ad-hoc query launched by EMN Luxembourg and the Ombudsman for Children and Youngsters (Ombudsman fir Kanner a Jugendlecher) on guardianship of unaccompanied minors will be presented. The conference will also hold two panels:

  • As part of the first panel, the latest developments in Belgium, Cyprus, and Finland will be highlighted.
  • During the second panel, the results from academic research on the role and importance of education in the life of migrant children will be discussed.

The conference is organised as a hybrid event with the possibility to attend in person (The University of Luxembourg, Belval Campus, Maison des Sciences Humaines, “Black Box”) and online (Webex).
