The Belgian National Contact Point of the EMN organizes a lunch session on the topic of "the illegal employment of third-country nationals in Belgium and in the EU", on 5 October in Brussels.

What?

The Belgian Contact Point of the EMN organizes a lunch session on the topic of the illegal employment of third-country nationals in Belgium and in the EU.

During this event, the Belgian EMN study on the illegal employment of third-country nationals will be presented by its author, Mr. Vanden Broeck (of the Federal Public Service Employment). This study focuses on various aspects of illegal employment: prevention, inspections, sanctions of employers and consequences for third-country-nationals.

The two other presentations will focus on the consequences for third-country nationals who are found to be irregularly working (in terms of residence rights, outstanding remuneration, complaints mechanism, etc.). Mr. Garcia from ORCA (the Organisation for Undocumented Workers) will present the Belgian situation, and Ms. Levoy from PICUM (Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants) will provide a European and global perspective on the issue.
